Sunday home delivery and readership is up over last year!

11.2.2009

Sunday home delivery circulation is up year over year and metro home delivery is up for the third consecutive time. While total Sunday home delivery circulation has seen gains of .74% or 2,700 copies, overall Sunday circulation has remained flat to last year due to slight losses on the single copy side. That said, Sunday continues to be a strong day with our readers and is attracting new readers every week due to the focus on improving the quality of the Sunday newspaper.  The Sunday Arizona Republic reaches more than 1.2 million readers, up 2 percent from last year -- proving once again that The Arizona Republic delivers both quantity and quality to consumers and advertisers. Total Sunday home delivery circulation is also up, and daily readership has increased among young boomer segments and affluent households. Among young boomers, the daily Arizona Republic reach is up 8 percent and among mature boomers, the daily reach increased by 3 percent. Daily readership among affluent adults increased 13 percent to last year, and Sunday is up 14 percent in that key audience.

All of the circulation reporting results appeared in the September 2009 Publisher's Statement, part of the Audit Bureau of Circulation's bi-annual Fas-Fax accounting of newspaper circulation performance.
